Lasersonic B from Kaast Machine Tools cuts at 5,500 IPM

Kaast Machine Tools Inc. has introduced the Lasersonic B fiber laser for sheet metal cutting. It features a maximum acceleration of 1 G and a maximum speed of 5,500 IPM. The fiber laser resonator can produce 1,000 to 12,000 W of laser power, with an XY-axis positioning accuracy of ±0.0004 in./12 in. and XY-axis worktable repeatability of 0.0007 in.

With cutting ranges from 10 by 5 ft. to 12 by 6 ft., the honeycomb welded structure of the machine incorporates a gantry double drive control system, large inertia servomotor, and high-precision gear and rack.

The machine’s Cypcut software measures real-time frequency and power curves, and the power of the laser radiation is adjusted automatically according to the speed of movement of the cutting head.
