Machining handpieces eliminate extraneous rust

Suhner has developed a series of INOX handpieces designed to end the problem of extraneous rust in machining operations.

Specifically developed for INOX materials processing, the series comprises four basic models, plus international variants, manufactured almost completely of stainless steel. Identical in structure and function to the company’s other handpieces and available in 18.5-, 25-, and 32-mm external diameters, the new series fits existing machines.

The handpieces have an elastic bearing that protects the ball bearing and dampens vibrations. The handle sleeves are uncoupled from the working spindle. They have a cylindrical shape for safe clamping in chucks. An additional mounting aid facilitates quick, easy change. Air chambers in the bearing promote heat-insulation.

During vibration measurements with carbide cutters, a 50 percent reduction was measured in comparison with previous handpieces, the company reports.
