Hand-held alloy analyzer designed for fabrication, automotive applications

Rigaku Analytical Devices has introduced the KT-100S hand-held laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) metal analyzer for alloy identification in industrial environments. According to the company, this product is an upgrade to the previously released KT-100 LIBS analyzer.

The new unit expands the use of hand-held LIBS for use in more difficult applications, such as recycling, fabrication, aerospace, automotive, and refineries, especially for the analysis and separation of most nonferrous alloys.

The analyzer’s second-generation spectrometer offers high throughput and resolution to help improve detection limits and improve precision when analyzing low-alloy steels, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and materials containing lithium.
