Steeltec XTP treatment for steel helps improve material properties.

Steeltec has developed Xtreme Performance (XTP®) thermomechanical treatment for steel. It imparts a fine-grained steel microstructure and improved material properties without the need for alloying elements or additional heat treatment, reports the company.

Using this technology, the manufacturer can modify standard steels to give them improved low-temperature toughness and strength. Precipitation-hardened ferrite-pearlite steels can be used at temperatures down to -60 degrees C, while bainite steels can handle temperatures as low as -100 degrees C.
