Salvagnini’s S1+P4 FMS combines laser/punching machine, panel bender, material handling

Salvagnini has unveiled a flexible manufacturing system incorporating the S1 combination machine, which can punch, form, tap, laser-cut, and separate parts, and the P4 panel bender. The combination has been designed to run kit or batch-one production—or process other series of parts that differ from each other—without work-in-process.

The S1’s multipress head can house up to 59 thick turret tools. The laser head moves along the Y axis with a 290-mm stroke.

Software allows bidirectional communication between the S1 and P4. The new TML longitudinal device with two telescopic Cartesian manipulators automatically picks up the parts produced by the laser/punching machine and conveys them in-line to the panel bender or stacked on a pallet.

The P4-2520 panel bender is equipped with a blank holder that automatically adapts the length of the tool according to the size of the part to be produced, without the need for machine downtime or manual retooling.
