Hilti North America has developed the EXO-O1 wearable exoskeleton. According to the company, the wearable system can help reduce strain and fatigue for experienced and novice users.

To create the exoskeleton, the company partnered with Ottobock, a provider of prosthetics, orthotics, and exoskeletons that help people increase and retain their physical independence. The product currently is in real-world job site testing, and the manufacturer expects to bring it to market in late 2020.

The exoskeleton initially is focused on overhead and shoulder height and above applications because this type of motion is so physically intensive and fatiguing. To help customers embrace technology transformation, the company also will offer on-site implementation, training, and support services.
