3-D printer produces high-precision metal objects

Digital Metal®, a Höganäs Group company, has initiated commercial production of what it says is the industry’s first high-precision binder jetting 3-D metal printer that can produce smaller and more intricate components than any previous technology.

The DM P2500 is suitable for serial production and customized parts. It prints continuously in 42-µm layers at 100 cc/hr. without the need for any support structures. Print volume of 2,500 cm3 is available. This makes it possible to manufacture small objects in high quantities (up to 50,000 parts in one print run), comprising shapes, geometries, and internal and external finishes.

Resolution is 35 µm, and average surface roughness is Ra 6 µm before additional finishing processes are applied.
