Caster models app has built-in, configurable 3-D CAD

Colson Group USA, a manufacturer of caster and wheel products, has launched the Caster CAD 3D mobile app. Built by CADENAS PARTsolutions, the app, designed for iOS devices, allows users to configure, preview, and download digital caster models and eliminates the need for bulky paper catalogs.
Once the desired product has been configured using an interactive 3-D model, the selection can be e-mailed to another device in more than 150 native and neutral CAD and graphic formats. After the native model is received, it can be seamlessly added and test-fit within an active CAD model.
The visual compare and placement feature helps users to “test” a part in a physical environment by simultaneously using the camera and the CAD model. By orienting the model and placing the 3-D preview within the camera image, users can compare the model to another part or visually test on an assembly.
Other sharing options besides e-mail include Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Google+, Tumblr, and direct download.
The free app is now available in the Apple App Store for download at itunes.apple.com/app/id985092468.
