Environmentally safe corrosion inhibitor protects metal in nonventilating spaces

Cortec® Corp. has introduced BioPouch™ environmentally safe corrosion protection. This vapor-phase corrosion inhibitor (VpCI®) protects metal parts in nonventilating spaces.

The corrosion inhibitor is made from agricultural byproducts. It emits from the pouch and saturates the enclosure via diffusion, filling all void spaces and recessed areas with protective vapor molecules.

Molecules from the pouch are attracted to and adsorb onto metallic surfaces, resulting in the formation of a nano protective barrier layer. The corrosion inhibitor provides protection in the presence of corrosive species (chlorides, moisture, sulfides) and displaces them at the metal surface.
