Brinell Optical Scanning System from Ametek includes configurable display

Ametek Newage Testing Instruments has launched a new version of its Brinell Optical Scanning System (B.O.S.S.). The system uses a compact scanning head attached to a computer to measure impression diameters in seconds and yields a measurement resolution of 0.01 mm.

The software sets up the criteria for the reading and performs the necessary Brinell Hardness Number calculations to ASTM standards. The system takes into account such anomalies as impression roundness and surface finish of samples.

The user interface has been upgraded with a new configurable display that shows the 10 most recent readings and features customizable measurement screens. An updated demonstration mode allows for multiple impressions.
