KT-100S hand-held analyzer from Rigaku identifies alloys in less than 2 sec.

Rigaku Analytical Devices has introduced the KT-100S™ hand-held analyzer for metal alloy analysis. This laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) unit, designed for use in tough environments like fabrication shops and scrap metal yards, can identify a large number of alloys in less than 2 sec.

It provides on-the-spot identification of difficult alloys, including aluminum grades, with low detection limits. It offers upgraded precision for low-alloy steels, stainless steels, high-temperature alloys, and lithium. The analyzer also offers auto surface preparation with its Drill-Down™ feature. Because the unit uses a laser excitation source, the end user faces little to no regulatory licensing requirements.
