Renishaw RMP400 strain gauge probe measures complex shapes, contours

Renishaw offers the RMP400 machine tool probe to its RENGAGE™ line. Designed for small 5-axis machine tools, this ultracompact strain gauge probe handles part setting, feature measurement, and machine performance checking.

The probe combines silicon strain gauge technology with ultracompact electronics for measurement of complex shapes and contours with submicron repeatability. A low trigger force helps to eliminate surface and form damage, making the probe suitable for inspecting delicate workpieces.

The probe uses radio transmission with frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) technology. This enables the unit to perform reliably even in high-density radio frequency environments, the company reports.
