Seam-finding system works with robots for surface detection via laser sensing

Servo-Robot offers the i-CUBE/YS, a high-speed laser spot measurement and seam-finding system designed to work with all industrial robots. Its high-speed communication to the robot allows quick surface detection using laser sensing that is up to four times faster than touch sensing, according to the manufacturer.

The air-cooled design, combined with a shutter for protection, allows the system to work in harsh welding environments. It also has a standoff of about 9.5 in., which lets the laser beam reach and measure any weld joint or part. The system can be integrated with any robot to allow for full IoT capabilities and connectivity.
