Sikora’s Radar Scan 6000 measures tube diameter, ovality

Sikora AG offers the Radar Scan 6000 system for online, contact-free measurement of metal tube and pipe diameter and ovality. Based on high-resolution radar technology, the system serves as an alternative to optical triangulation technology.

Transceivers work simultaneously to measure metal tube and pipe from different directions over 360 degrees of the product circumference. The system requires no calibration; is resistant to heat, steam, and dust; and records measurements to micron accuracy. Fast rotating tubes and pipes can be precisely measured, the company states.

With its narrow design, the system can be integrated into the production process easily. The technology measures independent of surface roughness in typical tube applications.
