X-ray thickness gauge upgraded to measure ferrous, nonferrous product

IMS has expanded the capabilities of its XR series thickness gauge to measure ferrous and nonferrous materials on a single gauge. The gauge’s laser speed measuring accuracy has increased to less than 0.05 percent.

Because the gauge is dual-purpose, users do not have to change gauges between runs of ferrous and nonferrous strip, coil, and plate, nor do they need to run multiple lines because of steel and aluminum products requiring separate gauges.

It is a noncontact gauge, so it has no effect on sensitive surfaces, and the tight tolerances can be verified easily. It is powered by a high-voltage, digital X-ray controller.
