zCAT, Verisurf Software introduce portable, automated DCC CMM for shop floor inspection

zCAT and Verisurf Software Inc. have introduced a portable and automated system for quality inspection and reporting. It combines the compact zCAT DCC CMM with Verisurf model-based measurement and inspection software.

The 30-lb. CMM is designed for in-process inspection, so the same person making the part can measure the part. Users can teach the machine what they want to measure and then permit the device to take over with an accuracy comparable to that of larger, nonportable CMMs, according to the company.
