Koike Aronson develops 5-axis bevel head for K-Jet waterjet cutting machine

Koike Aronson Inc., with the help of NUM, has developed a 5-axis CNC bevel head for its K-Jet waterjet cutting system. The cutting head is designed to combine ultrafast movement with precision positioning capabilities and is available with pumps up to 60,000-PSI capacity, the company says.

Based on NUM’s Flexium+ 68 CNC platform, the bevel head offers a linear accuracy of +/-0.003 in. and a repeatability of 0.001 in.

The K-Jet system is designed to cut various types of material—including steel and aluminum—without creating an HAZ. Five machine configurations are available, offering standard cutting areas up to 72 by 144 in. and three KMT intensifier pumps with pressure ratings as high as 90,000 PSI.
