Midrail gantry waterjet system runs up to four cutting heads
- July 5, 2016

- Waterjet Cutting
Jet Edge has introduced a new-generation midrail gantry waterjet system. Designed for heavy-duty, 24/7 use in industrial environments, the machine can operate up to four abrasivejet or water-only waterjet cutting heads.
The system holds +/- 0.001-in. linear positional accuracy (over 12 in.) per axis and +/- 0.001-in. repeatability (bidirectional). Moving elements are supported on THK linear ways; precision ball screws are directly coupled to servomotors; and critical motion components are protected with metal covers, brushes, labyrinth passages, lip seals, and HVLP filtered air.
The mid-rail gantry separates the motion system from the waterjet cutting table, eliminating vibration to help maximize part quality. Motion is controlled with the Aquavision® Di industrial PC controller. Its customized front end guides the user through the process from job setup to production. Single parts, mirroring, rotation, plate alignment, and optional part arrays are at the operator’s fingertips, says the company.
