Checking torch alignment before the cut

Before I make a cut, I like to check the torch’s alignment. I insert an aluminum TIG electrode into the oxygen jet hole on our shop track torch, and then I run the torch along my cut line.

I use aluminum because it is soft and won’t damage the torch tip.

Make sure to remove the wire before lighting the torch!
