W Intl. to expand manufacturing operations to South Carolina

Michigan-based W Intl., a family-owned heavy metal fabrication company, has announced plans to open a manufacturing facility in Berkeley County, S.C., in early 2019. This will be the company’s fourth manufacturing facility and its first outside of Michigan.

The firm provides manufacturing, custom fabrication, project management, tooling, and engineering services. At its new facility, an existing 451,000-sq.-ft. plant, the company will support U.S. defense shipbuilding, as well as the aerospace, automotive, and commercial business industries.

The expansion is expected to create 600 jobs in the first hiring phase (Q1 2019), with a second phase to follow shortly thereafter.
