AWS Foundation presents 19 schools with Welding Workforce Grants

The AWS Foundation has awarded its 2023 Welding Workforce Grants.

The American Welding Society Foundation has selected 19 schools to receive Welding Workforce Grants of up to $25,000 to expand training facilities, purchase welding or metalworking equipment, or upgrade computers and computer-based training systems:

  • Clarke County High School (Mobile Section Grant) – Grove Hill, Ala.
  • Denver High School – Denver, Iowa
  • Eastern Pulaski Community School – Winamac, Ind.
  • Fort Atkinson High School – Fort Atkinson, Wis.
  • Hampton University – Hampton, Va.
  • Lamar Institute of Technology – Beaumont, Texas
  • Moraine Valley Community College – Palos Hills, Ill.
  • Power Technical Early College – Colorado Springs, Colo.
  • School District of Rhinelander – Rhinelander, Wis.
  • Schuylkill Technology Center – Mar Lin, Pa.
  • Southwest Technology Center – Altus, Okla.
  • Sugar Salem High School – Sugar City, Idaho
  • Sullivan County Department of Education – Blountville, Tenn.
  • University Of Alaska-Southeast (SITKA) – Juneau, Alaska
  • Walla Walla Community College – Walla Walla, Wash.
  • Washington County Career Center – Marietta, Ohio
  • Wayne State University (Detroit Section Grant) – Detroit
  • Westbrook High School – Westbrook, Conn.
  • Wewahitchka High School (Mobile Section Grant) – Wewahitchka, Fla.

“All across the country, graduates of welding schools are in high demand, and it’s an ongoing challenge for schools to train enough individuals to meet the needs of local industry,” said Monica Pfarr, executive director of the AWS Foundation. “We are pleased to support the expansion of these schools’ welding programs and applaud their commitment and dedication to cultivating the next generation of welding technicians and professionals.”
