AWS to present seminar on ASME Section IX 2021
- September 13, 2021
- News Release
- Arc Welding
AWS will present the seminar “How to Use ASME Section IX 2021,” Oct. 26-28, 2021, at its headquarters in Miami. The introductory, three-day course will train participants to comply with the requirements of ASME Section IX, Welding, Brazing, and Fusing Qualifications.
Presenter Walter Sperko, PE, president of Sperko Engineering Services Inc., will review the welding processes and variables and basic steel welding metallurgy to provide all participants with sufficient background in welding technology to interpret and understand Section IX. He will explain in simple, straightforward terms the mechanics of using Section IX and how to address its requirements, placing an emphasis on writing welding procedures to contribute positively to the manufacturing process and on qualifying procedures in a cost-effective manner.
The course will examine the requirements for welders, brazers, and operators and explain how to minimize the cost and maximize the usefulness of qualifications. Each attendee will receive a hard copy of the 2021 edition of ASME Section IX standard and will earn 24 PDHs upon completion.
