EWM presents Physics of Welding Award

Germany-based arc welding equipment manufacturer EWM AG has presented its Physics of Welding Award to Alexander Atzberger, a junior researcher at the Bundeswehr University Munich, in recognition of his research into the use of augmented reality in welding.

Atzberger will work to simplify the transfer of knowledge in welding through his research project. The approach is to exchange movements and process parameters in welding through an augmented reality environment between two users anywhere in the world and in real time. The technology could be used not only for training, but also for analyzing and optimizing the welding process with customers.
