German Welding Society names president

The German Welding Society (DVS) has appointed Susanne Szczesny-Oßing, chair of the supervisory board of EWM AG and managing shareholder of EWM Industry GmbH, as president. She is the first female president in the organization’s more than 120-year history, and the first president of the technical and scientific society to hold a business administration degree.

Entrepreneur Szczesny-Oßing’s primary objectives are to keep moving forward with digitalizing basic and advanced training and resolving the skilled labor shortage in Germany’s welding and joining technology industry. She served on the DVS board of directors in 2005 and on the steering committee in 2007, as well as the finance committee, and became vice president of DVS in 2011.
