Pemamek invests 15 million euros in factory expansion, R&D

Finland-based welding and production automation provider Pemamek Ltd. has announced investments totaling 15 million euros in factory expansion and product development. The expansion increases the company’s production capacity and abilities to meet rising demand from the wind power industry. The demand for heavy-industry robot systems also has been increasing.

"Factors such as green transition and energy self-sufficiency have significantly increased the interest towards wind energy. Also, the sizes of offshore wind tower constructions are growing. As an example, the diameter of a tower foundation can be over 15 m. Currently there is no manufacturing capacity for structures of this size. Thus, tower and foundation manufacturers are required to invest in new, larger-scale production solutions,” said CEO Juha Mäkitalo.

The expansion, which will add 7,000 sq. m. of manufacturing, assembly, and office space to the company’s current 20,000-sq.-m factory area, is scheduled for completion during Q4 2022.
