Pemamek to deliver welding automation to Ingalls Shipbuilding
Finland-based Pemamek Ltd. will deliver welding automation to Ingalls Shipbuilding’s shipyard in Pascagoula, Miss., to help improve its panel production operations and enhance work flow.
The delivery encompasses a plate lengthening line for feeding two complete modern flat panel lines simultaneously, as well as robotized welding and integrated milling and welding applications.
One of the plate-joining stations, which uses laser-hybrid arc welding (LHAW) combined with tandem GMAW, can weld plates up to 60 ft. long from one side in thicknesses from 0.16 in.
