Sandvik Materials Technology to divest welding and stainless wire businesses

Stockholm-based Sandvik Materials Technology has announced its intention to divest its welding and stainless wire operations. These businesses are subject to intense competition, and the company does not hold a No. 1 or 2 market position. The company will retain its Kanthal wire business for industrial heating.

A new organizational structure is being created whereby each product area will be responsible and accountable for the entire value chain and its results. The four new product areas will be tube, Kanthal, powder, and strip.
