LIA appoints executive director

Laser Institute of America, Orlando, Fla., has announced the appointment of Dr. Nathaniel Quick, founder of AppliCote Associates LLC and former LIA president, as its new executive director. Quick succeeds Peter Baker, who served as executive director for 28 years and retired in May.

Quick earned several degrees in materials science and engineering from Cornell University, including a Doctor of Philosophy. He previously served as vice president of Washburn Wire Products Inc.; co-founded AT&T Coatings; and served as CEO and chief scientist for his own company, Applications Technology of Indiana Inc. He worked in leadership positions for several companies focused on materials processing and research development and founded AppliCote Associates LLC.
