PTG Powerstir dual-weld-head friction stir welding machines produce matched weld seams

Precision Technologies Group (PTG) has introduced a number of Powerstir dual-weld-head friction stir welding machines for use in the volume production of automotive battery tray floor assemblies from extruded aluminum panels.

The machines provide an even, stable welding process through matched dual-force control systems and balanced upper- and lower-head welding parameters. This helps produce matched weld seams with balanced heat input, which in turn minimizes postweld distortion and improves flatness tolerance in the welded assemblies.
