Large WEPB-24 grinders from Metabo feature safety brakes
- October 3, 2018
- Product Release
- Cutting and Weld Prep
Metabo Corp. has introduced large angle grinders with safety brakes, available in 7-in. (WEPB 24-180 MVT) and 9-in. (WEPB 24-230 MVT) models.
The wheel stops within 2.5 seconds of releasing the paddle switch. The nonlocking paddle switch and an electronic clutch help protect the user against kickback if the wheel binds. Both grinders also include electronic overload protection to keep the motor from overheating, as well as restart protection, which prevents the tool from restarting on its own in the event of a power interruption.
The 7-in. model has a no-load speed of 8,500, suitable for weld seam prep and beveling work. The 9-in. model has a no-load speed of 6,600 to cover a larger surface area when grinding and add extra depth capacity for cutting. Additional features of the tools include a three-position antivibration side handle and a three-position vibration-dampened back handle for cutting or grinding applications.
