Weiler develops Tiger wheels for midstream pipeline production construction

Weiler Abrasives has introduced the new Tiger Pipeliner grinding wheels and Tiger mech notching wheels for demanding pipeline applications.

The grinding wheels offer aggressiveness for grinding beads, facing the land, and prepping transitions throughout the life of the wheel. The mix of abrasive grains delivers a fast cut rate and easily removes wagon tracks from the weld bead, while a strong bond delivers long wheel life without glazing on fresh welds, states the manufacturer. In addition, the wheels’ bond has been formulated for reduced chatter and vibration.

The mech notching wheels are slightly thinner than a 1/8-in. wheel to fit the thinner bevel. They can grind the starts and stops of the weld bead without widening or scarring the narrower channel created by the mechanical pipe welding process. These ceramic-infused wheels are designed to work on J and K bevels and are available in wheel diameters of 4-1/2, 5, and 7 in.
