Amada Weld Tech offers the MM-L300A, a high-resolution monitor that measures the laser welding process in real time to prevent production errors in spot and seam welds. In addition to detecting gaps between parts and incorrect focus, the unit also detects missing parts, overpenetration, and cover gas absence.

It operates by detecting and recording a thermal signal from the area of laser interaction and providing the user an output waveform around which maximum/minimum or envelope limits can be set. Once these are in place, the unit compares a new weld waveform in real time to identify a weld as good or not.
