Servo-Robot has developed the Wiki-Scan 2.0 hand-held welding quality management system. The compact, noncontact system inspects weld joint preparations, joint fit-up, and weld bead geometry to help ensure the reliability of the welding process.

The unit measures such features as leg size and undercut, root and face opening, gap, mismatch, and bevel angles. The software allows automatic defect detection with little prior training.

The system limits redundant inspection operations, unneeded repairs, and overwelding and helps shorten inspection time, according to the manufacturer.
