Primetals Technologies supplies billet welding system for Union Iron & Steel
Union Iron & Steel Co. LLC has placed an order with Primetals Technologies to supply ERT-EBROS endless rolling technology for the company's existing bar rolling mill in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The system, which welds together billets intended for rolling, is scheduled to commence operation in late 2017.
Union Iron & Steel’s principal products are ribbed steel. Its bar rolling mill has an annual production capacity of nearly 353,000 tons of steel rods. It processes billets with a square cross section of 5 by 5 in. and 6 by 6 in. and produces reinforcement steel with diameters between 0.3 and 1.5 in. from low-carbon and low-alloy steel grades.
The new system will include a deburring station, extraction system, pinch roll, and roller table.
