Tube couplings serve as alternative to ferrule fittings

Voss has introduced the VOSSLok40 tube coupling system, which the company reports is an alternative to 40-degree ferrule fittings. It is based on the principle of tube forming established in hydraulics.

The metal-sealing forming system helps ensure precise sealing at nominal pressures of up to 700 bar and temperatures down to -40 degrees C. It is suitable for tubes with an OD of 0.24 to 0.87 in.

The system comprises a variety of structural shapes, such as angle, T-, or L- couplings. The coupling components are fabricated of stainless steel as standard but also are available in special materials on request. Stainless steel 1.4571 and steel E235/E355, aluminum, and copper-nickel alloys are suitable as tube materials.

It has three components: a conical sealing and retaining contour that is formed onto a tube end, a silver-plated nut, and a coupling body. The system shapes the cone structure at the end of the connection tube by compressing and smoothing the tube surface material on the sealing radius.
