Online strip width calculator updated with carbon steel tube and pipe categories

JMC Rollmasters Div. of Johnston Mfg. Co. Inc. has updated its Advanced Strip Width Calculator™ for tube and pipe producers. The free online calculator considers the effects of thinning caused by bending deformation, girth reduction in the fin passes, and the appropriate weld allowances to provide welded tube producers with estimated strip widths for their products.

The calculator’s material list now has three categories for carbon steel products: carbon steel standard mechanical tubing, carbon steel pipe products, and carbon steel DOM tubular products. These categories each use modified SyncIt™ values based on the varying forming stresses encountered and the weld quality requirements of each product. The answers provided for each value, however, remain unchanged from previous versions of the program.

Also updated is the calculator’s SyncIt value list, which allows users to synchronize the program more closely with their historical strip width tables and operational preferences. It now saves the manual settings on the user’s device and flags when manual values exist for each metal type. It also offers reference points on the drop-down list to allow comparison between manual and automatic settings.
