Signicast, DDM form partnership for prototyping services

Charlotte, N.C.-based Signicast, a Form Technologies Company, has signed a partnership with DDM to expand its prototyping services.

DDM’s Large Area Maskless Photopolymerization (LAMP) ceramic 3D printing technology offers topology optimization and generative designs for achieving complex components, with the short lead times of 3D printing. This combines with Signicast’s materials selection, automation technology, and design for manufacturability expertise to give customers prototypes in a fraction of the conventional time, the company reports.

The complementary processes also give engineers greater design freedom for their components. The technology allows designers to reduce component weight and to cast organic, complex geometries that would be difficult to produce using conventional methods—all while maintaining full strength. With 3D printing technology to optimize the shape of the design to cut down on surface area, designers are not limited by tooling configuration capability.

Signicast has scheduled a webinar for Wednesday, Oct. 28, at 11 a.m. ET on how the partnership can help customers achieve more complex geometries and save on material costs.
