For the U.S. Air Force 919th Special Operations Maintenance Squadron, 3D printing has become part of day-to-day operations. The unit uses a small, single-head 3D printer for printing tools, airduct parts, and face masks.

Now Air Force Reserve Command has selected the squadron to receive innovation funds for a dual-head printer that can print multiple materials at the same time, more quickly, and with a wider range of production capabilities.
