Canoo names VDL Nedcar as contract manufacturing partner
Canoo
Torrance, Calif.-based electric vehicle manufacturer Canoo has named VDL Nedcar as its contract manufacturing partner. Based in the Netherlands, VDL Nedcar will manufacture the Lifestyle Vehicle for the U.S. and EU markets while Canoo builds its mega microfactory in Oklahoma.
Canoo’s 400-acre campus, to be built in the Tulsa area, will include a full commercialization facility with paint, body shop, and general assembly. The campus also will include a low-volume industrialization facility. The facility, expected to create 2,000 jobs, is set to open in 2023.
The Nedcar facility is slated to build up to 1,000 units in 2022 with a target of 15,000 units in 2023. Vehicle delivery will begin in Q4 2022.
