U. S. Steel to restart Gary Works blast furnace
Pittsburgh-based U. S. Steel has announced plans to restart the No. 6 blast furnace at its Gary Works in Indiana. The steelmaker shut down the blast furnace in late April when automotive plant closures related to the coronavirus pandemic decreased demand.
The No. 4 blast furnace remains idled at Gary Works.
