Honda, LG Energy Solution break ground for EV battery plant in Ohio

Honda and LG Energy Solution have broken ground for a joint venture EV battery plant near Jeffersonville, Ohio. The two companies have committed to invest $3.5 billion in the new facility, which will have an annual production capacity of about 40 GWh.

The 2 million-sq.-ft. facility is scheduled to start mass production of pouch-type lithium-ion batteries by the end of 2025. Those batteries will go to Honda auto plants for production of EVs to be sold in North America.
