Arc Abrasives marks 60 years in business

Arc Abrasives, an abrasive manufacturing company that provides proprietary and high-performance abrasives for the metalworking industry, is celebrating its 60th anniversary.

The company was founded in 1960 in Troy, Ohio, by Zerla and Si Stayman. Five people worked out of a rented garage, using a Mixmaster to create the adhesive for the company’s first product—the PSA disc.

The company added cartridge rolls and other products, and then moved to a different location in 1985. Later it began producing belts, quick-change discs, and flap discs. Today Arc Abrasives is under second-generation ownership with Tony Stayman and employs more than 100 people.
