Pune, India-based ReportsnReports has released a forecast that predicts the global aerospace 3-D printing market will grow at a CAGR of 55.85 percent from 2016 to 2020. The aerospace components segment accounted for the maximum market share during 2015 and will continue to dominate the aerospace 3-D printing market for the next few years. One of the major factors contributing to the market segment's growth is the increasing demand for production of lightweight and smaller engine components.
According to the report, one of the primary drivers in the market is miniaturization of jet engines. 3-D printing not only contributes to the overall weight reduction of the aircraft but also enables miniaturization of aircraft components. This, in turn, results in fuel efficiency and a lower operating cost.
3-D printing also enables the fabrication of continuous units for aircraft interiors. The features are combined in one part, which decreases the use of materials, hardware, and attachments.
