Dallas Industries delivers two complete feed lines to Adient

Dallas Industries, Troy, Mich., a manufacturer of coil handling and press feeding equipment and controls, has delivered two complete feed lines, along with two reels and retrofit coil guide rolls for existing systems, to the Adient (formerly Johnson Controls) facility in Athens, Tenn.
Both new compact LoopSelect SpaceSaver™ feed lines have 40,000-lb. capacity; one is 60 in. wide, and the other is 72 in. wide. They feature a selectable loop control. The front loop mode allows processing of light-gauge material at long feed lengths and high speeds. The back loop mode allows processing of heavy-gauge materials using a clock spring loop to form beneath the coil.
Each of the feed lines includes a DRFXDS-8 servo feed/piloting pull-through straightener with 8-in.-dia. feed rolls and nine 4-in.-dia. straightener rolls. Both lines were built on an Allen-Bradley, Ethernet-based control architecture and feature SyncLoop and ProfileSelect™.
SyncLoop controls synchronize the feeder and straightener speeds. Loop height set points can be stored in the job recipe. ProfileSelect is an exclusive feed control system that uses a sinusoidal (cam motion) profile for smooth feed motion that uses 100 percent of the press feed window.
In addition, the AutoSet feature automatically adjusts various axes based on the job recipe. It also offers auto-adjusting feed passline, feeder/straightener edge guides, and reel coil guides.
