Mitsubishi Power Systems, Governor Rick Scott discuss how to attract business investment to Florida

Mitsubishi Power Systems Americas Inc. (MPSA) executives joined Florida Governor Rick Scott May 16 in a round table discussion that focused on how the Sunshine State can become more competitive in attracting additional manufacturing jobs and corporate investment.
MPSA President and CEO Koji Hasegawa stated, "On behalf of MPSA I am pleased that the Governor has identified Mitsubishi Power Systems as an economic anchor here in Florida, one whose contributions need to be replicated by attracting other businesses to the state. It is also clear that his Administration is committed to creating new jobs and attracting new investment and that private industry has the means to provide a pathway for that agenda."
Governor Rick Scott said, "Florida's manufacturing industry is a huge engine for job growth. By reducing and eventually phasing out the business tax, reducing the size and scope of government and creating an environment for businesses to thrive, companies like Mitsubishi will continue to expand and grow jobs in this important industry."
MPSA employs more than 750 people at its headquarters in Lake Mary, Fla., and Power Generation Services facility (PGS) in Orlando, Fla. PGS is a 225,000-square-foot facility that manufactures parts for Mitsubishi's gas and steam turbines and provides a wide range of gas and steam turbine repair services to power generating facilities throughout the Americas. In 2008, MPSA was named Manufacturer of the Year by the Manufacturers Association of Central Florida. MPSA received Enterprise Florida Inc.'s "project of the year" award in 2002 for new investment in Florida when it decided to build PGS in Orlando.
"The Governor is on the hunt for new jobs and expanded investment in Florida and we want to offer him our insight to help him achieve those goals. A strong economy works for everyone," concluded Mr. Hasegawa.
