Valmont Industries closes Valley, Neb., site because of flooding

Engineered products manufacturer Valmont Industries Inc. has announced that its facility in Valley, Neb., became surrounded by flood waters on March 15, prompting a preemptive closure of the site to ensure employee safety. The plant will remain closed until it is determined safe for employees to return.

Most buildings at the site remain dry, but flooding has closed major roads and highways surrounding the facility, making the campus inaccessible. The company is using manufacturing facilities in other regions around the U.S. to continue serving customers. Its manufacturing plant in Columbus, Neb., and coatings facility in West Point, Neb., also have been affected by the flooding but remain operational. Manufacturing operations in McCook and Waverly, Neb., are unaffected and operating as normal.
