Corrosion inhibitors offer water-, solvent-based options for metal protection

Birchwood Technologies offers a line of water-based and solvent-based inhibitors and sealants to prevent rust and corrosion on all metal surfaces. Manufacturers can select the rust preventive that is most suitable for their lubricity, dryness, decorative appeal, removability, and posttreatment operation requirements.
The different product formulations allow for variables such as the type of metal surface in question; term of protection needed; and conditions of exposure in handling, shipping, and storage.
The water-based products provide a variety of protection levels and surface appearance. These products include a water-dilutable oil, a dry water-based sealant, a satin-gloss acrylic polymer, and a high-gloss urethane polymer sealant. None of these aqueous products have any VOC content or flashpoint.
The solvent-based products protect various metal surfaces, including raw steel/casting inventory, in-process parts, finished products in distributor warehouses, and parts in long-term storage or overseas shipment. Three of the products are available in high-flashpoint, low-VOC versions for areas with sensitive air quality requirements.
