Polishing machine achieves mirror-like finish on round tube

Finishing equipment manufacturer NS Máquinas Industriais introduced another machine for polishing round tube, either straight or bent. Leveraging the expertise used in developing its ML100 and ML150, the company’s latest machine is designed to produce a mirror-like finish.
The machine uses three planetary polishing wheels that rotate around the tube, developing enough speed and pressure to deliver a high-gloss finish. The operator uses a pedal to control the pressure, adjusting the force applied during tube polishing operation. The operator can feed curved tube manually or straight tube automatically.
The MP100 concept does not have any tube supports in the polishing area. Eliminating supports eliminates any chance of marking or scratching the tube. A built-in system applies soap automatically to the polishing wheels by operator prompt or at preset intervals.
The machine handles tube and pipe up to 4.5 in. dia. The feeding system transports straight tube at any speed up to 9.8 ft. per minute. A 5.5-kW motor drives the finishing wheels, which have diameters from 7 in. to 9.45 in.
