Compact marker available in hand-held, inline configurations
- March 11, 2008

Borries Marking Systems has expanded the capabilities of its MicroLiner compact marker. In addition to a hand-held configuration, the company recently developed the MicroLiner 312, an inline version designed for workpiece marking, lot control, and traceability.
The marking instrument can generate scribe, stylus, and dot-matrix marking (readable by a human eye), as well as ECC200 DataMatrix code marking for reading by automated vision systems. The marker is fully programmable, marking up to four characters per second.
Driven by a high-speed stepper motor and ball screw arrangement, the lightweight marker moves on linear guide rails. Weighing 6.6 lbs., it can be mounted in a fixed position for automation situations or furnished with indexing mechanisms or part-holding fixtures.
The marker measures 6-1/3 in. high by 5.9 in. long by 5.9 in. deep. Its controller can generate time and date codes internally. The marker also can receive data from other sources via an RS-232 interface or optional RS-422, Profibus, or Ethernet. Signal exchanges with user automation can be via digital I/O or optional DeviceNet technology.
