Bimetal band saw blades handle high-temperature cutting

Simonds® Intl. has introduced its new X-51™ bimetal band saw blades designed to handle the high temperatures generated by cutting exotic alloys and tough materials.
The band saw blades feature M51 tooth tips engineered to extend blade life when cutting cast iron, tool steel, die steel, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, titanium, INCONEL® alloy and other exotic and high-temperature alloys.
The combination of cobalt and tungsten at the cutting edge and a fatigue-resistant blade backer fortifies the blade's resistance to frictional heat failure at the tooth tip, the company states.
VThe bimetal blades are offered with the company's patented Sine-Wave® technology engineered to provide an aggressive broaching action in the cut to enhance cut quality, reduce cutting time, and increase blade life. The technology includes a series of ramps on the blade's back edge designed to exert more force into a cut without increasing machine pressure. The blades are available in 1-in., 1-1/4-in., and 1-1/2-in. widths. They come in tooth pitch configurations of 2-3, 3-4, and 4-6 teeth per inch.
The blades are suitable for cutting large cross sections and for use in metal service centers and production cutting operations.
